5 Treatments for Younger Looking Eyes

Man's face with smooth skin and facial hairs

May 7, 2021

Beginning in our late-20s, our skin loses 1-2% collagen and elastin per year sparking the beginning of the aging process.

This process causes skin laxity and is noticeably visible around the eyes. The skin laxity can cause a tired or aging look causing people to feel self-conscious, especially during the selfie and virtual meeting era. Adding to this, the use of masks has also highlighted the eye region of the face.

The good news is that there are several procedures that can be performed to help reverse the hands of time. These range from non-invasive to minimally invasive to surgical depending on the severity of the skin laxity.

1. Tempsure

Cynosure’s TempSure Envi technology is a non-invasive skin tightening option that uses radiofrequency technology to heat deep into the skin to regenerate collagen and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and crow’s feet. As an added bonus, it helps with smile lines and frown lines.

This is a 15 min procedure and almost immediately gives a youthful glow. This can be scheduled easily due to the short length of treatment. We recommend 4-6 treatments for best results.

2. Microneedling with or without Radiofrequency

There are 2 types of microneedling technology available: SkinPen or Morpheus 8. In either case, these are minimally invasive procedures that trigger inflammation, proliferation and remodeling of the skin. We recommend 3 treatments for maximum benefit and will apply a numbing cream prior to treatment to ensure it is painless.

SkinPen by Crown Aesthetics is sometimes referred to as cold microneedling. It creates thousands of microchannels that stimulate your body’s own natural wound healing process to rejuvenate your skin.

Morpheus 8 by InMode utilizes radiofrequency energy and heat with different treatment depths.

3. PRP with Microneedling

PRP, or Platelet Rich Plasma, refers to the utilization of concentrated platelets in plasma, promoting healing utilizing your own blood. The liquid part of the blood is plasma while platelets are solid. Platelets are essential for healing wounds and injuries as they help blood clot.

We take a sample of blood and use a centrifuge, a spinning tool, to separate and concentrate the PRP. This is an adjunct with Microneedling treatment.

4. Neurotoxins

The single most popular cosmetic treatments in the US are neurotoxin treatments, which include Botox and Dysport. They eliminate wrinkles as a result of facial movements we make daily by blocking nerve impulses to the localized muscles.

The most commonly treated areas are the frown lines or glabellar lines, crow’s feet or wrinkles around the eyes and forehead creases.

5. Eye Lift and Brow Lift Surgery Options

Now to the surgical procedures. Many times the excess skin is best eliminated with surgery and the above measures can be taken for future prevention. Surgical options most commonly performed for the eyes are upper blepharoplasty, lower blepharoplasty and brow lift.

With both an upper and lower blepharoplasty (also referred to as an eye lift), excess skin is removed or excised along with fat. This will reduce the heaviness felt by the upper eyelids and eliminates the fatty pockets from below the eyes. An upper blepharoplasty can be performed as an in-office procedure eliminating the need for the operating room and anesthesia fees. A lower blepharoplasty can also be performed in office and both procedures have minimal down time.

Brow Lifts are more involved and require the use of the operating room for best results.

Get That Refreshed Look Back

A common question we get asked often is whether a person will look like themselves after these procedures. On average, most people will look like the younger version of themselves from 10 years ago.
