For those who prefer a completely natural approach for breast augmentation, a fat transfer can be used to increase breast size and fullness. Liposuction is used to remove your own fat tissue- typically from the abdomen, flanks (love-handles), and thighs-, which is refined and purified. Following purification, it is then re-injected in a precise, targeted pattern for ideal contouring to match your augmentation goals.
In the long term, the fat added to the breast mimics natural breast tissue to accentuate a very natural, augmented appearance. As an added benefit, patients enjoy the results of body sculpting in the areas that were targeted for fat collection.
Breast augmentation with fat transfer can be used in those undergoing their first augmentation procedure, in cases where targeted volume is added around existing implants or in the instance where implants are removed, but maintenance of breast size is desired.
You are an ideal candidate for a Breast Augmentation with fat if:
1) You would like to add volume, shape or lift to the breasts.
2) You have researched and decided implants are not right for you.
3) You have at least a mild amount of excess fat around the midsection to donate.
4) You would appreciate the secondary effects of Liposculpting from collecting the fat.
What to expect during and after surgery
Breast augmentation with fat transfer is performed on an outpatient basis under mild general anesthesia. The procedure typically takes about two hours for fat harvest and transfer. A support garment will be worn to help minimize swelling and allow early return to activity. Moderate soreness at the fat collection sites is standard and we recommend limiting all activities for 48 hours after surgery. Most patients can resume normal activities after one week but the recommendation is to refrain from strenuous exercise for 4-6 weeks.
